Konkani singing competition was held at Holy Cross church pamboor on Sunday 13 October 2013 organised by ICYM Pamboor. The competitions had various sub groups such as Solo, Duet and Group singing. Parish priest Rev. Fr. Paul Rego was present on the occasion.
The programme started in the evening at 3.00 pm with prayer. Miss Charlotte welcomed the gathering. Miss Lona gave a brief introduction about the Judges for the competition Mr. Prajoth D’sa, Mr. OliverRebello and Mrs. Anitha Alva were the judges of the competition.
The competition was inaugurated by the parish priest Rev. Fr. Paul Rego by singing a Konkani song named “Mangalore shera”. The competition was conducted for youth and adults of the parish. First solo singing was held. Then duet singing, this was divided into 3 subgroups Male-Male, Male-Female and Female-Female.
Then group singing was held. Group singing was held between wards. All the 14 wards participated. The auditorium was full of parishioners and appreciated the people.
Rev. Fr. Paul during his address congratulated the ICYM president Josil Errol Noronha, Secretary Miss Linet Dsouza and Cultural Secretary Miss Raina Mathais for their efforts and for organizing the competition very well.
He also told the parishioners to participate in a large number next time and bring out the talents that are hidden in them and in the youth and the children. Later he sang another song “Rosaline MujhaMogachem” and Mr. Prakash Noronha accompanied him with the Keyboard.
Mr. Oliver during the judge’s feedback advised the people to select some sentimental or slow songs and to add voices while singing in group. Glenson Noronha conveyed the vote of thanks and Dickson Noronha compered. Josil Noronha announced the results.Program was concluded by singing the ICYM anthem. Large number of parishioners participated. The programme ended at 7.00 pm.
