Community Day on 30 November 2024, Mass was celebrated at 5pm Rev. Fr.Henry Mascarenhas was the main celebrant in his homily he spoke about how Small Christain Community plays a role in building a strong Parish community. After the mass snacks and Juice were served.
The programme began with a Prayer Dance followed by the formal programme. The Dignitaries on the stage were Rev.Fr.Harold Pereira- Diocesan Director for Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC), Rev.Fr.Henry Mascarenhas Parish Priest, Sr Ida Lobo- Provincial Superior, Congregation of Holy Spirit Sisters, Sr Mary Beck - Superior of Helena Sadan, Mrs Asuntha Dsouza Vice President and Mr Tony Monis Secretary of The Parish Pastoral Council, Mrs Violet Castelino Coordinator of Pastoral Commissions, Mrs Violet Dsouza Coordinator Of Basic Ecclesial Community, Mrs Nirmala Monis Secretary Of Basic Ecclesial Community.
Mrs Violet Dsouza welcomed the gathering. Rev.Fr.Harold Pereira beautifully explained the meaning of Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) and how it helps us to build a community, a community within our parish and outside our Parish. Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas spoke of the community day bringing us together through games, organizing the programme and cooking together. Mrs Nirmala Monis read the report of the Basic Ecclesial Community. Sr Ida Lobo thanked the parishioners for supporting and helping sisters of Helena Sadan. Mrs Asuntha Dsouza was happy in expressing her gratitude to all parishioners for actively participating in all events, organizing the programme and cooking together. She also mentioned that parish community is made by us, let’s stay united and strong. Mrs Sarita Dsouza Proposed the Vote of Thanks.
The programme was followed by the song of community day, a dance on the Parable of Ten Bridesmaid and the comedy drama, Written and Music by Nellu Permannur, Directed by Alwyn Danthy, Pernal, enacted by the actors of our Parish. The programme concluded with the dinner.
In the morning of 30 November 2024, Parishioners gathered together to prepare the meal for the evening Community Day. The cooking Process began with a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Henry Mascarenhas followed by chopping the onions, grating the coconut etc. The Church ground was made ready for the evening programme.
